Wellington St. Matthews Scout Group

Wellington Scout Group started on April 1st 1910. Based around the Hessle Road / Boulevard area of Hull, it moved home several times as it developed, finally locating in the upper storey of a taxi business. In the late 1970s it combined with the St Matthew’s Scout Group, and moved to their base in the northern part of the Boulevard.
The Group currently comprises a Beaver Scout Colony, Cub Scout Pack, and Scout Troop. We are also home to West Hull District’s “Isotropic” Explorer Unit.
Beavers (5¾yrs – 8yrs) meet on Monday evenings
Cubs (7½yrs – 11yrs) meet on Monday evenings
Scouts (11yrs – 14yrs) meet on Thursday evenings
Isotropic Explorers (14yrs – 18yrs) meet on Thursday evenings
Scout Active Service (18yrs +) meet on Thursday evenings
All Units run throughout the year except for Bank Holiday Mondays.
Age ranges are flexible however Beavers can not join until they reach minimum age
In addition to our regular meetings, we run separate Summer Camps for Cubs and Scouts, weekend camps, and occasional sleepovers for Beavers. We undertake conservation activities in the local area and run swimming sessions most Tuesday evenings in the local pool. Each unit has occasional Outings and the Scouts have an Outdoor Group which explores various nature reserves. The older Scouts and Explorers can also join the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. We have an annual Group Open Evening, usually in November. Once a month, members who do not already belong to a Church or other religious centre, are asked to attend the Family Service at St Matthew’s Church.
